Junior Web Developer
Position Overview:
As a Junior Web Developer, your primary responsibility will involve providing essential support to our delivery teams in executing ongoing tasks related to website builds and maintenance of existing web applications as required.
Working in partnership with our Technical Lead, you will contribute to a range of responsibilities, including front and back-end coding, testing, and implementing client feedback to ensure the continuous functionality of our serviced website’s
underlying structures. Your proficient skills in website development and meticulous attention to detail will be instrumental in maintaining a high-quality output, exceeding client expectations. As a skilled junior web developer, your ability to follow directions, coordinate communications across your team, and excel in high-pressure situations will be paramount to your ongoing success.
Through active learning and familiarisation with internal frameworks, your contributions in supporting the advancement of our ongoing project initiatives will continue to nurture key developmental skill sets throughout your journey. You will offer innovative perspectives, fresh ideas, and an eagerness to explore emerging technologies and methodologies. Active engagement in collaborative discussions, will play a growing role in refining and presenting effective solutions for our partners.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Technical Lead and development team on website builds, updates, and maintenance of existing web applications.
2. Assist in coding, testing, and debugging processes to ensure the functionality and integrity of web projects.
3. Assisting with regular maintenance of backend and front-end web applications to ensure the smooth operation of all underlying structures.
4. Keeping up-to-date with the latest technology and programming trends.
5. Collaborating with the design team to identify and correct problems to ensure the correct user experience is actioned based on user stories and user/client feedback.
6. Uphold high standards of website development and pay meticulous attention to detail in all development tasks.
7. Adhere to project timelines and deadlines while maintaining code quality and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Desirered Tertiary qualifications within information technology, computer science, similar field or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 1-year work experience as a junior web developer (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
- Experience or understanding of collaborative programming tools such as Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Solid understanding of web design and development principles.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret and implement client feedback effectively.
- A keen interest in staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in web development.
Preferred Skills (but not mandatory):
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
- Familiarity with front end implementation of responsive design and mobile-first development techniques.
- Exposure to web accessibility standards and practices.
