Tips to increase Google ranking

With the unprecedented soar of Google and with the Search Engine Optimisation, your organic traffic is directly related to your search engine ranking positions.

One way to achieve that is if you have impeccable copywriting using a prolific number of keywords in the Google index which will drive traffic to your website. There can be several factors to consider in order to increase your ranking in Google search and in turn can make waves to your business.

Aim to use reasonable keywords

It is imperative that you know what you want to rank for. Knowing this strategically would save you tons of time and surely you will reap the benefits long before you know it. In order to arrive at using the best possible keyword, here are several aspects to consider.

  • Volume or Frequency which pertains to how many times a month the term is searched;
  • Authority of your domain which pertains to the publishing of quality content of your site regularly.
  • Relevance and materiality which pertains to the cohesiveness of the keywords to being a possible answer to a search query.

You can even target long-tail question search since a lot of people use Google now to search for answers to almost everything from the scientific ones or for mere curiosity.

Efficient and reliable link-building.

Links are critical for your website as this is considered by Google as a crucial determinant for ranking high in search engines. It is important to consider attracting links from reputable and trustworthy sites. Focus on creating relevant links within the text. Instead of having “click here” links, try writing out the name of the destination. Always use descriptive links by linking keywords—it not only improves search engine optimization, but also adds value to your readers, including those with disabilities or who are using screen readers.

Usability on mobile.

Google uses mobile-first indexing when crawling websites. This means that the search engine predominantly uses the mobile version of a website when it’s evaluating a page. Even if the desktop version of your site is flawless, your search engine ranking could take a huge hit if the site isn’t optimised for mobile. Always preview your web pages to ensure that they’re easily accessible across different types of devices, not just desktop.

Invest time and effort into writing long and relevant content.

While this is most apparent with blog posts, it is also equally important for landing pages as well.

You may include subtopics in your content because the tendency of searchers now is that they dwell on a specific page if they get everything in that page.

Here are a couple of ways to find subtopics to include in your content:

  1. Research on the top-ranking pages for similarities – Pay particular attention to subheadings.
  2. Find keywords top-ranking pages rank for that you don’t – These often map to subtopics.
  3. Backlinking also helps. This happens when you had a previous content which you currently link in the existing content.

Title and header tags are also very useful. Insert them into specific places on your page, like the title and header tags. Search engines use these tags to learn what the page is about and index it appropriately. The title tag is what’s displayed the most prominently in the search results pages.
