First Nations Futures – Empowering Leadership with the Mabo Centre
NGNY is proud to collaborate with the National Native Title Council and the University of Melbourne on the Mabo Centre — a powerful new platform driving First Nations leadership, economic development, and Indigenous self-determination.
Named with the blessing of the Mabo family, the Centre honours the legacy of Dr Eddie Koiki Mabo and his historic fight for land and sea justice. Building on this legacy, the Mabo Centre supports Traditional Owners and young First Nations leaders in shaping their futures through four key pillars: Research, Training, Exchange, and Acceleration.
NGNY worked closely with stakeholders to design a compelling digital identity and communications platform that reflects the Centre’s vision, cultural authority, and bold ambition. Our work included digital storytelling that honours the history and purpose of the Mabo legacy, while engaging partners, policymakers, and community members to support the movement.
The Mabo Centre is governed by respected First Nations leaders and academics, including Jamie Lowe, Professor Marcia Langton, and Professor Paul Kofman. Together, they are championing a future where Traditional Owners are the architects of their own prosperity — culturally, legally, and economically.
We’re honoured to be part of this vital initiative, helping to amplify voices and visions that will transform Australia’s approach to land rights and community-led development.
This is more than a project — it’s a movement.
